Adele - 30
This is the fourth album from British Vocal Deity Adele.
What to Expect: :
Perfect singing. And heartbreak. It’s Adele. Commercially, she makes Pablo Escobar look like the Cabbage Merchant from Avatar.
Overall: Adele cleaned y’all out. I don’t think the album is “interrupt the entire supply chain” good, but still pretty darn close.
Play by Play:
Strangers by Nature - Grand intro.
Easy On Me - Her performance is great. Production sounds pretty soft too. Reminds me of Amy Winehouse.
My Little Love - Soft production. This album is gentle. This is like her “To Zion”. Cry, wine club member, cry.
Cry Your Heart Out - CRY, LISTENER, CRY. LET US COLLECT YOUR TEARS AND SELL THEM ON EBAY. YOU’RE NOT FREAKING CRYING ENOUGH. ARE YOU CRYING YET? CRY ALREADY, WE’RE FOUR TRACKS DEEP.
Oh My God - Netflix type beat. I understand the appeal. Don’t care for it personally.
Can I Get It - This tune has Max Martin’s Swedish magic songwriting hands all over it. Good job Max. You made another one for the commercials.
I Drink Wine - It sounds like a Disney movie. I see the appeal. The writing is cheesy, but it’s endearing. Her performance is great.
All Night Parking - Somebody’s been listening to some SZA. She sounds great over a hip hop beat. Make of that as you will.
Woman Like Me - This song reminds me of Amy Winehouse the most. The production is so good. The hook is great. The writing is excellent. Check out Sault, they make awesome jazz.
Hold On - Her voice is expressive. This album was only made for Oprah and her viewers.
To Be Loved - Sad and dramatic. My heteronormative masculine brain is stunlocked right now.
Love Is A Game - It’s grand. It sounds very timeless. Performances are great. I love the key change. It’s a grand finale to the album.
Score: 7/10
