Great Albums: Q1 2024

Schoolboy Q - Blue Lips

You can now tell that Q has been rapping for over a decade and has definitely showed it. As a producer, you can throw any rhythm his way and he can drop a very smooth 16 bars. He can rap over a live band effortlessly if he wanted to.

Boldy James & Nicholas Craven - Penalty of Leadership

This album came out in January and it’s already one of the best albums I’ve heard this year. Boldy could rap over any beat and invoke the soundtrack of someone’s untimely demise in a single bar with unparalleled ease.

Bruiser Wolf - My Stories Got Stories

This album makes me guffaw quite intensely. His flow is super unorthodox and I love his beat selection. It’s a very enjoyable hip hop album.

Moor Mother - The Great Bailout

This album is woke. If you hate woke, good. You need a certain level of intelligence to understand this album.

Yeat - 2093

He sounds like a full fledged rapper. The Kids will be Alright, Everyone

Grande Mahogany - As Grande As

This is a very wacky wild colorful ride of a record from a very obscure Finnish producer.

RAP Ferreira & Fumitake Tamura - the First Fist to Make Contact When We Dap

Warning: this album wanders off quite a bit, and can come off pretentious if you just want to turn up. But it’s grown man rap with a legendary spoken word flow. RAP Ferreira continues to Rap Forever on another wonderfully introspective listen.
