Giveon – When It’s All Said and Done

I have no prior knowledge of who this Long Beach R&B singer was until everyone on Twitter was freaking out about the EP, so I figured I would check it out.Overall: There’s a lot to like in this EP in spite of its 11 min runtime. Play this if you don’t last very long in bed.
Play by Play:
1. When It’s All Said and Done – It’s short. Sounds pretty. He sounds like he’s in his feelings. His voice reminds me of Khalid, as well as Ty Dolla Sign too.
2. Still Your Best – Voice autotuned. His voice sounds great as he uses it as an effect, rather than a crutch. The guitar chord progression is also really cool. The lyrics are sensual. The production is really great on this song. Babymaking groove too. It’s definitely one for a sex playlist. He sings great, despite him reminding me of singers like Khalid and Frank Ocean. If anything, the song doesn’t change up too much and drags after a while, but that groove is still a whole vibe.
3. Last time (ft. Snoh Aalegra) – This track sounds like a PartyNextDoor track. Snoh’s feature was understated and slightly muffled. I get the intimate delivery but I couldn’t really hear her compared to Giveon or any other element in the mix. Still, in the playlist you go.
4. Stuck On You – I love the chord progression in this. He sounds like Khalid on this as well. Beat is smooth and sounds like the Weeknd. Harmonies reminds me of Boyz II Men. His performance is understated, but he knows his production choices and can really make his performances pop from it.
